I just had my 37.5K service ($150) and found that it was more than triple what the 22.5K cost, although they are the same basic service.

The dealer informed me that LRNA subsidized the service in the past (amounting to approximately 1/2 the cost), but they have had a change of heart and decided to pass the incredibly high fees on to the owners.

$150 for a basic oil change is ridiculous. Had I known about the increase before, the dealer would have never seen my DII again. I haven't had an issue in the past because I thought the prices were relatively fair, but I think they just lost a customer.

Anyone else experience the same or was it just my dealer?

If you are closer to SoCal I have a very good mechanic that specializes in Jags and Rovers that does a tremendous job with excellent service and low service fee. The shop is located in 27495 Commerce Center Dr, Temecula, CA 92590 with ph no. 9096931944.

Steve, I am a landrover service manager and can tell you that your dealer is correct. LRNA (BAST***S) hav done exactly that. They used to give the dealership $200.00 per service performed. That gave my dealership about $10,000.00 per month in profits. As commissioned employees, we all took a massive pay cut so we had no choice but pass it on to our customers. At the same time, LRNA also took our quartely bonus money which amounted to about $800.00 per quarter per person. If you add all that up, I and most all service mangers will take about a $9000.00 hit on our personel incomethis year. We have to find a way to make some of that money back and yes, the customer takes the hit. Its just like gas prices or anything else that goes up or gets cut back. I can also tell you that there are a lot of aftermarket shops that are much cheaper. There is no secret to servicing a landrover. Don't let your dealer tell you that it will void your warranty, it will not. Just keep your records in case an engine, trans or t-box needs replacing under warranty.

Damn, None of you guys go to La.? ha ha. I'll have to check tommorrow but I think that the corrosion warranty is 7 years or 70,000 mlies. I have a 95 disco and I just missed getting my alpines covered by time. I think 96 is the same. I will tell you this, LRNA will try to get out of a repair if you haven't had your annual cor. inspection. You will have to make waves with owner care to get it covered. They will if you complain. The # is 1-800-637-6837. The squeaky wheel gets the greese. If you guys have any other questions ,please ask.

my friendly dealer told me 6 years. damn... and the vehicle has been at the dealership less than four months ago, and the corrosion was pretty damn obvious. esp. for a vehicle that sees less than 10" of precipitation annually...

Peter, like I said. I'm not 100% sure. I can check for you and let you know tommorrow. E-mail me your vehicle information, vin and miles and I'll e-mail you back to let you know for sure. My work e-mail is [email protected]. Anyone else can e-mail me there if you need anything or questions answered.

Joe it is 6 years, unlimited miles, and "by the book" you are required to have performed the recommmended annual corrosion inspections as per your owners manual. Also "by the book" it has to be perforated, surface rust does not count.

FWIW

BTW Joe is correct but our dealer did not mark up the prices substantially. (We added $10 to the 7500, $30 to the 45,000 and maybe $50 to the 30k). A 37.5 is still $60

Joe thanks for the confirmation.

I was only going to the dealer because the prices were "fair" and I knew there would be a service record. Are you saying that any service record is proof enough for a potential claim with LR?

Unless there is a major check scheduled, I will visit the local boys at Bear Valley.

Thanks--Steve DII '00

Just paid $65 for an oil change at LR; valve job was not covered under warranty because prior maintenance was not done by LR.

Our dealer would have done it under warranty for you Mary. Have you already done it?
