Current mileage: 38,000

I got it, and my DII does the same thing. The windshield washer jets on the hood seep (also speeled seam) fluid, leaving streaks on the hood of evaporated washer fluid.

I figure the fluid is getting hot in the tubes (right there above the engine) and expanding, leaking out through the jets.

Just get used to it.

I guess its a big deal to people whose trucks spend 0% of their time offroad or something......

OK...

Almost identical to coolio's experience and costs... I have the SE7

But... only have 30K on the OD.

Brakes all around,

2 lights out so far and replaced,
right front passenger window motor replaced, ABS recall, Rear seats.. creak like hell and have had the left one replaced and now... a new piece of plastic broke off, Wiper blades fell apart

Also... broke off one nozzle spray with bump by another car.... cheap!!!

Off road... Tahoe rim trail, Wildomar, Lake Mead (took some paint off there!) and Wrightwood. My billy goat!

Dislikes... brake issues with rotors, noisy and too damn tight inside for me... costly to maintain.

Likes... Rover, I actually like the power curve, ACE is pretty cool but too loud, and climbs anything!

Overall... quite pleased.

Forgot one thing...

Cruises at 90-100 really well across the desert.

Very Very happy with the high speed runs.

Is that a shot?

I cannot tell if you are picking on my grammer... or the fact that I didn't add a period and then... And, it'll climb anything I would dare venture on.

Gorsh...

I think the point Peter is trying to make is that ACE doesn't help you climb anything, it keeps your truck from leaning to badly while cornering.

Our '01 Disco SD (Stripped Down) dark grey:

Purchased 4 months ago with 8800 miles on the clock - $25,200 from the dealer. Now has 10,200 miles.

Was spotless when purchased, now has thousands of scratches on sides. We have 4 other vehicles, so is used only when going up in the mountains or in the desert (we live in Las Vegas.) Our retired 4wd (still in the family) is '89 Dodge Raider (much narrower, might that explain the scratches?) Front air dam has taken gouges from big rocks, lost 1 rear mud flap.

Mods: 255x70x16 MTR's, AMV CDR actuator from Australia, hitch receiver from Nathan to pull our little pop-up trailer.

Likes: Goes anywhere the Raider did and then some, but much more comfortably. Like the extra room for friends and lots of beer and wine and camping gear.

Dislikes: The fan control for heat / AC. The only one I've ever seen that you have to turn up all the way to turn down - stupid and annoying for the 3 times I've wanted to adjust it. Wish I could have found a cloth seat model, but we will keep beach towels to sit on during the summer so the vinal doesn't burn our butts.

Hasn't been to the mall or work once yet, the only time it leaves the garage is to go on fun trips where it gets scratched to shit.

Boy, am I lucky!

Carter: FWIW, ACE purports to "disconnect" the torsion bar when the computer detects off-road situations. This adds travel, which can keep tires on the ground where they otherwise might not be.

99 D2, purchased new, coils, ACE, leather. In 2001 I started off-roading with it, OME HD lift, sliders, CDL, diff guard protection, etc.

Now has about 47K on the clock, is just breaking in (and breaking the AT), has a few rattles now, the t-case whines in low and it sees the dirt about twice a month. I wouldn't trade it for anything, except maybe a Rubicon or a mid-90's FJ.

Model: 1999 Disco 2 with all options (7 pass, cd, heated windscreen ect.) except ace 47,000 miles, dark green. Michelin LTX tires

Bought used at local dealer in Sioux Falls for $24,745 with 44,000 miles. Sending it to Eden Prairie Land Rover for 45,000 check and any last minute items to fix before it falls off warranty.

Prior vehicle 1995 Isuzu Trooper S with 3" lift arb/warn bumper big Yokahama Geolander AT's

Comments: I have only started to enjoy the Disco's off road capabilities with about 5 hunting trips in rural SD (mostly farm land and CRP Acres) I love it so far but waiting for some more serious off roading in the spring Black Hills and Northern Minnesota.

Wish list: OME 3" lift as described at www.expaditionexchange.com New Geolander AT's, remove LR equip. Side Steps, add my Yakima load warrior (I need new towers) and add lights and bumper.

Conclusion: One of the most "lush and comfortable" seriously capable trucks I have had.

Thats interesting Michael but I still think he was trying to talk about ETC, we'll let Greggo be the final judge though.

Hello....

If he were to look at my original post:

"Likes... Rover, I actually like the power curve, ACE is pretty cool but too loud, and climbs anything!"

So, if he were to be precise...ACE does not help the power curve.... either...

Like I said... sorry my grammer was not up to speed for him.

LOL

Carter, funny you should mention this, when I posted my reply, I actually overlooked ACE and thought the ETC climbing everything is an overstatement. That makes the original Greggo's statement funnier :)

I couldn't care less of the grammar, but - come on Greggo, your sentence is anything but "Rover climbs anything!"

Just a disclaimer - I couldn't care less of ETC and ACE as well. Just havin' fun.

Ya'll slay me...

Ok...

Likes.... Its a rover (that is cool!)
Likes.... ACE... but it is too loud
Likes.... It climbs anything (proper disclaimer... not really ANYTHING, but just most things... well, not even just most things... just dirt and rocky things I like to go up and well... down.)

Is this better?

Bought brand new in Nov 2001

Model: SE, with ACE, Olive Green. Paid for $38,900 (before taxes + registration).
Current mileage: 52,00

Add ons: Brush guard, light guards, roof rack (with ply wood on top), front spot lights, tow winch, CB aerial, Tool box mounted on roof rack, Fishing rod tube on side of roof rack, BF Goodrich 245/75 R16 Ats, (soon) snorkel and rear spot lights

Mechanical updates: New transmission, replaced side back window, new brake pads, wiper blades, dealer recalls (ABS and something else dont remember). Done most of the mileage stuff myself. The big one done by LR.

Praise:I love this car, Its a beast, I have been on trails that have stopped most other SUVs, I even beat a Hummer on a trail (Hummers too wide for most trails), Great on road, The only thing is that I drive it too much. Also the girls love it. (Take them on camping trips and offroading trips in Up State NY). I just wish I had a Defender also.
Complaints: Parts hard to find (thank God for Internet), pain to take to Dealership, and running the Hi test gas, Idle Pulley (one that can with car), U-joints with no Zercs.

Offroad driving: a lot, In all weather and all seasons, in Snow, mud, sand, and rocks. Never had to use my winch (on myself) or had a problem getting stuck in woods (knock on wood), Must use common sense this is not a tank.
Damage:Two blown belts (bad Idler pulley was cause), Broken back side window (offroading at night without back spot lights caused this one), Transmission and U-Joints replaced (not offroading accident, defected rotoflex, Rotoflex went while on hi-way. Rotoflex and U-Joint hit transmission and cracked it. Warrenty covered it). Lots of dents and scraches (caused from offroad use, seen as bage of honor, nothing touch up paint cant fix.)

Long distance traveled: Washington DC to Albany Ny, about 20 times (in all weather), Washington DC to New Orleans and Back two times.

Well since I got lippy with Greg, I had better come clean.....BTW, nice re-edit of your post.

I bought the Pig in 07/01, pre-owned with 13K on the clock. I am at 33,800 right now. It was a dealer car, so I am sure somebody gave it a trip to hell and back before me. It's none of your damn business what I paid.

For XMAS '01 the wife bought me an OME lift and five Bridgestone AT 265/70R16s. During the same month I installed a Yakima Snowboard / mountain bike carrier to the factory rails.

Then I went to Philly for the year and met all kinds of Rover Freaks (Garrett). I spent 11 months of this year in Philly and during that time I bought:

ARB Winch Bar with IPF JO-1 Lights
LR Adventure Rack (Yakima couldn't hold my crap)
5 Wrangler MTR's 265/75r16. (Bridgestone let me down)
Rovertym sliders
Trek Outfitters Rear Bumper
4 Hella 4K's and a Hella 110 Back up light
OME steering Damper
Replaced the rear MD OME's with HD's
Cobra 7 WXT CB
Kyle's Hi-Lift Mounts
48" hi-lift (feel free to flame away)

I am happy with the Pig. Had to go to the dealer 4 times since I bought it:

#1 Fuel sending unit
#2 D2 Recall
#3 30K Service
#4 MAF

Off Roading in the Pig has been fun. I must be honest that my only experience off-road was from the events I went to this year (Assateague, Uwharrie, SCC, Killington, MAR). Some day when I get some time, I am going on an extended long range trip to see what this vehicle can do for me. However, I am looking for something else now. I really like open Series Trucks and Soft Top D90's. So who knows what the future holds.

Bought my td5 new in Nov 01
All up paid $52000 Aus Dollars
Have only done 22,000 Km's, but heaps of off road.
Get plenty of dust ingestion in dusty conditions.
Great fuel economy, good out bush, no problems to date, and has been driven hard on rough outback roads and trails.
Added, ARB running boards (stop's stone chips). TJM winch bar.
Only problem I have is, I can't get the wife out of the car, so i travel the top end of Australia for work on a motorbike.
