Did some playing on the snow today, traction control light kicked-in several times, then suddenly the warning light with the thermometer symbol came on for few minutes on two different occasion. What causes it? Is this an indication of something serious? Thanks in advance for your input. 2002 DII SD7 19,000+ miles |

Did you do a lot of stopping/starting low speed wheel spinning? A lot of constant shifting generates heat quickly. Probably no permanent damage, but you should change the fluid as soon as possible if it got hot repeatedly. When the light comes on you need to let the engine idle in park until it goes off. This will circulate the fluid through the cooler in the radiator under no load and allow it to cool. |
