Im about to replace the cupped HP stock tires. Well, went to America Tire Co, they want like $950 for 4 Michellin Energys, $850 for Pirelli Scorpio. This is ridiculous.. Just checked out at tirerack.com - they have more choices than before.. I remember they only carry Good Years, Michelin, and Pirelli. Now there's Dunlop, Yokohama, Bridgestone, Kumho. Kumho being the lowest price at $98 each. I pointed out the cupped HPs to the guy at the shop, he told me it's the tire design that caused it. When asked about the Pirelli's, he told me I'll have the same problem - since the design is simular to the HP's. I read some your early posts and someone recommened Pirelli's - I dont know about that anymore. He pointed out the Yokohama's thread shape, and recommended me. Then again, his price is horrendous - maybe i'll get them from online and pay someone to mount it. I dont know about those Kumho's. It is Z rated, but with that price? Something fishy here. |

I would most likely stay away from anything that is Z rated if you are looking for longevity. Typically anything with a Z rating is going to be a softer compound and will wear faster. I used to run Z rated on my import car but was going through them to fast so switched to something else. I too will have to replace my tires soon. I'll look out for some good deals. |
