I recently bought a used bumper for my 99 Disco1 and it is a little rusted and faded. What I was wondering is what is the best way to clean off the rust and can I paint it? Thanks |

You might be better off getting it powder coated. |

I'd second Al on the powder coating -- usually you can find a shop that'll run your bumper through with a batch of other stuff (if it's black) to save on costs. Of course, if it's just a small rust spot, then spray can may be OK. To remove rust: I've use a wire wheel on the drill followed up with a sander. You may want to use a rust converter (or similar product) but check with the powdercoater first. |

Think some people used the NAPA undercoating or something like that. |

Thanks for all the input. If I went the powder coating route, where would I find someone that does that? Bodyshop? |

Last time I had something powder coated, I looked in the yellow pages -- don't have them handy in the office or I'd tell you what I looked under. Maybe under paint, coating, industrial coatings. Anyway, any metropolitan or light industrial area should have a powder coating company. Or maybe your local 4x4 shop may know. |
