Is it necessary to modify the spare tire carrier on a d2 to fit a 265/75 R16 on it? |

yes it is! it can be done easily by detaching it, drilling two new hoes in it, flipping it and reattaching it. There is a how to either in the tech section here or on EE. Took me about 45 minutes. |

The rear wiper will also have to be repositioned so it clears the left side of carrier...easy enough. If one were a**l retentive, a small notch could be made so resting wiper position remains "factory" looking. The 265/75 spare sits much higher. A noticeable loss of reward visibility for the shorter Significant Other. -Barry |

I just turned my spare tire holder around. No extra holes. Tire fits and doesn't touch the bumper. Chris U |
