My light came on. Had the codes read. Need to know:
1. What the codes mean.
2. How to fix the problems.

Thanks

P1316
P3199
P0301

I use alldatadiy.com to find information and codes for my 97 Discovery.
P1316 - Misfire Excessive Emissions Fault
P0301 - Misfire Cylinder 1
I could not find P3199

Im not a mechanic but when I had a misfire on Cyl 4 I replaced all the plugs and wires and the problem went away, Thats seems to be first and cheapest place to start.

Could also be coils or valve problems... take your pick.

Greg,
I am having the exact same problem however, mine is cylinder 7 misfiring and I get the P1316 error as well. Have you found out anything?

I looked underneath and found one of the wires had arced and melted away a little. Tomorrow I take it in to have it looked at, I was just curious if you found anything.
PS- Does anyone know how much a coil costs?

Later,
Ben

Don't know anything, yet. I am way too busy this week to look at it.

I did replace the plugs and wires this summer when it turned 100,000 miles.

Anybody know anything else for these codes? Especially P3199. What is this?

My check engine light came on earlier in the Fall, then went off after a week or so.
Now it is back on.

Thanks,
Greg

Get a cheap laptop and http://www.obd-2.com/ and you can tell most things the computer on board wants you to know. Also handy for resetting annoying catalytic problems that prevent you from passing emissions, since all they do here is plug in and ask the truck if anything is wrong. :)
