my air impact wrench seems to have worn out, it's lost nearly all it's power. it was a cheap ass one that came with the compressor so i dont mind. my questions are: why did it wear out after 2 years and can i rebuild it? what is a good one to buy that will last (price range is a 50-200$) do i really need the high end one? if they keep wearing out it will pay for itself... can i still use the cheap one but do more maintenace and get a liftime of use out of it? it says oil daily, i might have oiled it every 5th time i used it. just looking for some advice thanks rob |

rob, the most important thing is to have a good dry source of air. I have seen bad air make a $400 chicago pneumatic impact go bad in short order. I have a huge water trap air dryer meant for a body shop paint booth on mine and I rarely oil my tools and they all hold up well. rust is what kills them FWIW |

Rust, caused by wet air! If you can't get dry air, oil regularly and they might last. Paul |

Whatever you do.. get an Ingersol Rand!!. I almost bought a Snap-On but my mechanic opened his tool drawers and lo and behold.. 4 different size Snap-On. He doesn't use them. He said it came with the stuff he purchased. Found my IR on Ebay.. good price too. For air stuff.. stick with IR. For tools Snap 0n Disclaimer: the above is my own experience. YMMV. Alex Cabrera |
