My vacume advance has gone - long live the vacumeless distributor. LR wanted $320 for a new (fit in the palm of your (child's) hand unit!). It runs fine without it and given that it only adjust timing on backing off acceleration it does not seem to effect fuel economy, although clearly that is what it is for.

The vacume hose is now blocked off on the manifold and the hose itself is looped at the dizzy - long live the modification!!!

I feel that I have had a small but signigicant win over the LR parts department.

Cheers all

i just recently...o'er the thanksgiving break....had my vacume advance (lil hose) crack open @ one of the connector ends...i got it replaced @ the dealership and when they couldn't find the right part...they just gave me a rubber hose that was the same length...i haven't noticed any differeence...supposedly one of the guys told me that it was one of two ways the car knows when fire or whatever....the other is in the alternator a mechanical innertia thing...anyway...they told me i would get crappy gas mileage if i didn't do something about it...but i was gettin' 16mpg on the highway! GITTY UP! in my book...so i put it on and have noticed no differences...
if the above post is correct about it only having to do with off the accelerator timing..then that might be the reason for this...
