The 1996 d1 I purchased in August has a 12 month 12k mile bumper to bumper extended warranty which is almost used up ( I know, I drive to much)...
I'm making a list of things to complain about on my last and only warranty claim which include (so far)
Leak in power steering
Clunk and occasional failure in pass front elect window
Burn thru at bottom of muffler
Some water leaks around pass door top.
I would like suggestions for any other areas I ought to evaluate and possibly include.
By the way I will have to pay $100.00 up front for this work so I want to try to get it all at once.
Thanks
Gordon

Look at the intake at the back where the end seal is, common leak location. ABS sensor seal leaks, hub leaks, swivel ball leaks, worn wheel bearings.

Go on a good, hard off-road trip, clean the car really well, got to the dealer and say, "fix it."

Look for cracks in the rotoflex (rubber coupling at back of rear drive shaft)- your 96 should have one instead of a ujoint at that location. Any exhaust "ticking" noise from an exhaust manifold that is beginning to crack? Any minor hesitation when cruising at highway speed that could be the beginnings of stuck exhaust valves? Any leaks from the oil cooler lines or the transmission cooler lines? Do you have sunroofs? If they rattle when they are open they need the new rail assemblies (per the Land Rover Tech bulletin). Don't know if the 96 had the new style transmission/transfer case shaft. If you have a "clunk" when shifting, it could be worn splines - complain about it and have them put in the new stle parts (or they'll look at your serial number and tell you that you already have them). Is your dashboard curling? Any abs faults (if the abs light doesn't turn off momentarily as soon as it comes on (and before it stays on until you drive 5mph) it means there is a stored fault - tell them to find it and fix it). Definitely complain if you have any swivel joint leaks and have them reseal them. That's all the ills I can remember fixing on our 95 for now. Good luck! (wish I still had an extended warranty!)

Good List, I'm planning on printing this and spending the time to recheck all of the suggestions... They probably won't like me but I bet they don't forget me.
anyone have anything else to add
Thanks
Gordon
