Hey all,
I was just reading a previous post about washing the disco and I realized that I have never really washed and detailed my engine bay. I know that I could take it to a local detail shop and let them wash it for a pretty penny but I was thinking I could just do it myself. I know that I would have to cover the air intake as well as .... I guess I'm really not sure. If anyone has a process out there for washing the engine please forward it on to me! I would really appreciate it.

thanks
justin

Justin,
I just did it this past weekend. First, be smart - no strong jet streams of water anywhere in the engine bay.

Cover the air intake and distributor if you want. If you don't do this then DO NOT spray stong streams of water in those areas.

I used Simple Green engine degreaser and sprayed one part of the engine at a time, ragged if over with an old cloth and then lightly sprayed it off.

Worked like a champ. The engine was clean and it started.

Good Luck,
Eric

Thanks eric, I think I'm going to try it this weekend if I can keep the warm weather here!

Justin,

I have a hot water heater in my garage and every time I wash the engines in any of my cars I connect a garden hose to the drain outlet. The hot water and simple green really works great. Shogun is right cover all openings and no solid streams directed towards anything electrical. PS wear gloves the hose will get hot!!!
