After looking at Dave Lucas' DII bumper (very nice) I was wondering if anyone has taken the stock DI bumper and added steel end caps to replace the factory plastic. Fab the ends and weld to the existing bumper for a clean seamless rear bumper with all the factory lights, and added side protection. Or is the stock bumper inherently weak ? |

Yep very weak. Come back and rest on it with the weight of the vehicle on a steep obstacle and it will be completely toast. Drag it on something and it will bend and so on. I think this goes for nearly any stock bumper on any vehicle. |
