In the next few days the site will go down for a move. DNS will swing and it will take a little while for it to replicate. So if you arent getting it thats why....

Why the move?

The never ending search for bandwith. The Box is still staying with Jeff at www.alexandriainternet.com (Hosting has kicked ass) its just being moved to another location. The box hasnt been down for almost a year now so I am sure it welcomes the little break.

Amen. Thanks for providing the forum for much information. I have no clue of the work or cost or brain effort involved to keep DW going smoothly, all I know DW is always here when needed.

I very much appreciate your consistent efforts.

Thank-you Kyle, Ho, and Mr. Ax!

If you are thinking of buying anything from the DW store and want it by Xmas, get your order in before the move. If not, sit back, relax and enjoy the 404 Not Found screen....... :)

Kyle, Ho and Axel, I'd like to add my thanks for your work, determination and monetary commitment to hosting this site. I'll miss DiscoWeb while it's 404-ing, and I'll rejoice upon it's return. Oh, BOO-HOO-HOO!!!!!! There, I feel better now.....

While I'm relatively new to dweb, but I'd like to add my thanks as well. The knowledge and info available here is second to none and I've benefited by info that would've taken me alot of time and effort to get otherwise.

It's great entertainment as well. I've flat out fallen off my chair from laughing. Where else could you find a more sick bunch of deviants tied together by a common interest in LR products (maybe a british prison for sex offenders?).

i do not envy the moderators job...
Thanks-

Ho, Alex and Kyle, Thanks for DWeb!

I just put in my order for stickers this AM with my wife's PP account. Get 'em out quick for my stocking! When she noticed the missing $10, I told her I bought stickers for my new D2. (It's soccor mom virgin right now) I got "the look" and she asked I would want to sticker the nice car like my old range rover. Couldn't explain it...I must be ill...

Happy Holidays,
-John

The site won't be gone for long. Kyle just have to physically shut the box down, take it to the new loacation and hook it back up. That will all happen the same day, most likely. Then there will be an ip change, which can take up to 3 days to replicate itself, depending on which isp you are using. So, there should be a short outage.

Why not post the new IP on the LR-Discovery forum while it propigates?

Carter:

In order to promote education and prevent dereliction of this great nations youth, and as a PERSONAL favor to you, I have blocked your ip adress until your finals are over. Email me your grades when you are done and I will enable you again IF YOUR GRADES ARE ACCEPTABLE. I want proof that you call your mom regularly and change your underwear, too.

Hey guys,

I have been reading discoweb for more than 3 years now. Much longer than I have owned a lr. I use it every day, for entertainment and advice and to find the best vendors and the most knowllegable people in the land rover comunity. I organize wheeling trips, sell items, consume time and I have talked to people from all over the world.

Great site.

For those of us that plan on being realllly bored on monday, please let us know the new IP address so we don't have to wait for replication. :) This way we can also make fun of people that don't understand what an IP address is too.

And a hearty thank you to Dweb who helped me get the truck I've wanted for about 7 years now.

If we're just waiting for DNS propigation it shouldn't take that long. I was under the impression that there was a physical move of the box.

It *could* take lots of time to get EVERYwhere but *shouldn't* take that long for most of us. It will depend on the TTL for the zone file. Generally with two ISPs I use and my own site changes are seen withing a few hours at most. And as quick as 5 minutes. But I guess it could also depend on who's hosting your DNS information.

sorry I didn't complete my sentence. I meant to say that according to Axle there is a physical move of the box involved.

Al , we East Coasters will get it back pretty much imediately. However , for the guys that are still living in the stone age (The west and midwest) it ussually takes some time for it to work out. And yes , it is a Physical move which will put it pretty much right on the backbone.
You can speculate on how fast it "Coulda" or "Shoulda" done its thing but the fact is that it just dont work out that way. Some people will be down for as much as three days. While they are not the majiority , thats just how it works out. Enjoy the break...

Yes, Virginia, there is a DiscoWeb. And though they sometimes may fade from our consciences due to life's stresses and worries, those of us with faith know they will return on Moab Eve to dispense peace in the rover community and toys and presents to all good rover children.

Shall I tell you the story of "The Night Before Moab"?
