I've had a problem starting my 96 D1 w/70k for sometime now. It's pretty tempermental. One day it starts right up - the next I need to give it gas. Eventually it starts by giving it gas, but I have to keep my foot on the gas until the idle kicks in - usually about a minute. I then smell gas like it was being flooded. Is that what is happening? Could this be fuel filter / rotor / plugs, etc.? It happens to about 50% of the start ups. |

Corey: Probably leaky injectors. A couple of cheap ways to solve it. Turn the key from off to on and wait until you hear the fuel pump wuit running. Do this 2-3 times and then try to start. This usually helps. I "Believe" I helped this problem through usage of injector cleaner voodoo juice each fill-up. I don't think I changed anything else but using the cleaners seemed to help me out. Eventually, we will be forced to pull our injectors and have them professionally cleaned, but 'til then, these two suggestions might help you out for the time being. Peace, Paul |

Sounds like leaky injectors. Mine has done it since I have owned it. I have tried everything to fix it, including changing the injectors I thought were at fault. I have learned to live with it. You might want to check your fuel pump pressure before anything else, though, to make sure it isn't going bad. Then I would check the fuul filter. |
