My wife was following a gravel truck on the freeway and guess what happened. As a result I need to replace both headlights on my '97 NA Disco and now have three rock chips on the windshield. I would like to upgrade the headlights with the european ones but have no idea where to purchase them.

Does anybody have any suggestions where to buy???

Thanks,

Ira

I had this happen recently and just went ahead and paid my deductible to get insurance to handle it all.

Since this comes under the comprehensive portion of your insurance (vs. collision), it won't impact your rates.

I checked and the cost of the parts was higher than my deductible, so it seemed a lot easier to have someone else do it for me for less than what it would cost me in parts.

when you get the new ones imay i suggest what i did . i had a shop put a thick "mylar" film over them. it doesn't appear to affect the headlight and it has stopped any rocks from breaking them. i think one of the aftermarket places sells a kit for the headlamps so you could do it yourslef. anyone know what shop carries that kit? mine is a 91 and i live where they "sand" the road with rocks in the winter, i said sand to further the joke. Anyhow in 6 years i have not had one rokc break the headlamps, now the windhield is another story...

Has anyone seen where I can get a pair of those heavy wire rock guards for these headlights, like the one on the rally caes.
Thanks
Gordon

Bruce,

I hate to say this, but the "mylar" thing you are talking about can be found at.....Atlantic British. I do believe they have it at a pretty good price, but I'm sure its cheaper somewhere else. Of course, I have no idea of another place that would sell that. I saw some in Griots, but it was like 50 bucks for one to go over a RRC headlight, then you had to buy the other one. Jeez...

I would like to thank everyone for their help. Believe or not this information may save our marriage:)

I will call Atlantic British / Mr. Crabtree tomorrow and also purchase the protective film for the headlights. Did I mention that this will make the fifth headlight I have purchased in two years.

Thanks again,

Ira

Go to www.Stongard.com

Stongard is the manufacturer for all the stuff sold by AB and Griots. You can buy a complete kit for all your front lights (heads, turns, fogs)for about $59. They also sell clear plastic applique guard for your front of vehicle as well.

They're in Seattle, WA area.

Good luck

Xpel is also an option. They make headlamp and paint protection kits for the Discovery (all models except 2003). I've e-mailed them asking about when they expect availablity for the '03s.
