I know this gets a lot of time on this board but i am looking at replacing my tires now. I have a OME 3inch kit in and want a taller tire. I was looking at either 245/75/16 or 235/85/16. i am running stock gears right now. I mostly use my truck lighttly in town, lots of highway, and in between that offroad. Any recomendations? I also wonder what brand to go with, i am looking at BFG All Terrains, but have heard good things about the pirelli socrpions. so any insight would be helpful..thnaks in advance... |

You have to answer the following: 1. Offroad driving percentage for the Disco? 2. Will I change gears soon? 3. HD axles? 4. What type of terrain? 5. AT, MT, Extreme tread? 6. Max price to pay? 7. What rims will I be running? It would be a shame to go with anything lower than a 32" on a 3" lift, since that can be accomodated on a 2" one, which has a lot of benefits versus the additional 1" one. As far as I am concerned, lifts are the means to bigger tyres, so with a 3" lift, you can fit a 'big' 32" or a small 33' easily, within certain width ofcoarse. Answer these for us to help you and for you to know what is the best tire for you... |

I have the OME HD springs and nitro shocks. However I never got 3" out of them. You may not have the same issues if you have a legitimate 3". 245/75 BFT AT and MT rubbed slightly on the rear quarter panel until I trimmed it off for a new bumper. The AT tires do not take rocks well. 235/85 Trxus MT have rubbed once under compression on the rear door (front of rear wheel well). You can see pics in my gallery. |
