Judging from what I've seen on these boards, most people seem to put second batteries in the spot where the bottle jack sits -- in front of the air box. Anybody try this? What do you do with the air horn from the air box? Just cut it off? Relocate it? Any other good spots for an additional battery? |

Thanks a lot John! Great photos! You've done some wild shit with your Disco! How did you get the mud out after that dunking? Have you stripped the carpets out? About the battery: I see you solved the air horn problem by just getting rid of the stock air box and putting on a K&N, right? Did you want the K&N anyway, or did you do it because you couldn't solve the air horn problem any other way? I am asking because I would like to keep the stock air box if possible. Thanks again. |

I am currently looking at the same challange! That is putting in a second battery and retaining the stock air box... Mostly for Cold air intake reasons... I have already pulled the horn out of the airbox and routed a piece of large hose to the space behind the headlight. But it seems the only real solution to dual batteries it to remove the airbox and put on the K&N like John did. I will do this too but I might get creative and extend that filter over to the area above the wheel and build a little divider to keep out that nasty hot air from the engine... Not like it makes a heck of a lot of difference in this little motor... Just a throw back to my Hotrod days i guess... |

Dom has a nice set up with the ARB snorkel. Dom you out there? Show us your handy work (all I will say is it involved a lot of caulk to seal the airbox from water) Ron |

I have had a duel battery system put in my 97 disco about 2 months ago. The battery was put infront of the air box. The air horn pulls out and it works fine without it. no problems at all. the only other mod needed is to move the power steering filler into the engin bay a bit. this require a bracket to be made. its a very simple procedure and works fine. would post photos if i knew how. |
