So its about that time of year to start strapping the skiis and Boards to the roof. But last winter I didnt have the adventure rack up there. In the past I have used the thule ski rack on the stock bars but now the big rack is up there. so when I went out to survey, I thought I could still use the factory bars and have the Thule rack stick through the roof rack, but they dont stick up enough. anyone have any ideas? the rack bars are round, and thule are rectangles. Is there a spacer they make to raise the ski rack attachmennt off the bar to maybe give me some more clearance and have them stick up further? thanks for any imput joshua |

Thule should make an adapter. Have you checked with Atlantic British? They had a bunch of adapters and stuff for racks. Maybe you could use their pictures and construct something that you can afford! |

Just put split heater hose on the rack tubing, then use bicycle toe-clip straps to hold the skis down. The split rubber hose prevents the skis from sliding out of the straps. At two straps per ski, it only takes a few minutes to tie down a few pair. Ditto for the poles. Or, put your skis and poles in a ski bag, then strap the bag down to the rack. There is really an endless list of ways to tie things to the rack... Tom P. |

Yakima racks use round bars.. can be found pretty cheaply on ebay..or just splurge and buy a thule or yakima rocket box and bolt that to the rack.. will keep all the salt and sand of skis and bolts with adaptable u bolts... |

Joshua, I went to Burton Snowboards for a particular Board / Ski bag that they sell. It will hold two Snowboards or 3 sets of skis or a combination. This large sturdy bag has wheels on one end for airport transport and the whole thing can be easily strapped down on your adventure rack with Bungees or cargo tie downs. http://www.burtonsnowboards.com/gear/sc_bags.asp?subcategoryID=10 Hope this helps. |

Hey Guys Just thought I would update you incase anyone runs into the same problem Im pretty sure I have fixed the issue. Thule just released about 2months ago a new product called the Fat Mouth (part no. FM-1) Its a universal mount for thule for any size or shape bar! So i think this will fit the bill, so to speak and anyone can mount thier thule components on the adventure rack ( or another rack with round bars, yes, including yakima) |
