my antilock brake light suddenly lit up on the dash, there doesn't seem to be a problem, but its annoying. any ideas? my brakes are realitively new, less than 20k on them.

does the ABS work? you live where there is snow? if so apply the brakes hard enough to get the ABS to kick in. or just a slick road.
pads won't have anything to do with it.
could be a bad ABS sensor at one of the wheels.

yeah the wheel speed sensor is on all 4 hubs... one of them might be out of alignment or full of crud... easy to check out and replace/repair...

Trevor,
Any idea where that relay would be on a '94 D1?

My bulbs been on for about a year but the ABS itself is functioning perfectly.

I have a 96 and have the same problem but my ABS works fine. Any step by step procedure I can do to find the problem? Thanks

My light was a long time in my '94 D1
Took it in the the "dealer" 2 weeks in the shop later it was still on (They checked the sensors etc and said there were no fault codes which you would have with a sensor). So I got out my shop manual. It says if the light is on and there are no trouble codes from the computer look for an electrical problem like a faulty ABS relay. Off to the car and there is was the fuse in the engine compartment ( 30A don't remember whch fuse number)It was blown. Replaced it and the light went out as expected . So before tackling the sensors check the fuses, the connections the relay. There was, I believe discussion last year on how to get the fault codes out of the ABS. I should have done that myself long ago.
