Hi guys. Looks like I have to drop the panhard on my 2000 DII to install a front diff guard I bought. If I remove the bolt to drop it down will I need to replace the bushing when I reinstall the rod or can I just tighten it back up? Also, any specific torque or just nice and snug? Thanks for any advice guys.

if its off.. take a close look but you are probably fine and will not have to replace the bushings... if you do.. Atlantic British sells the kit (2 bushing & all bolts & lock nuts) for about $30.

I would replace the lock nuts, no matter... $0.50..

They don't tell you that the panhard rod has to come off to put that guard on!

This is the best procedure that I have tried to remove/install panhard rod:

Set the front chassis on stands(leave wheels on). Do not jack the truck up in the air, just get the weight off the wheels(but wheels are still setting on the ground) so that you can manuver the axle around later with the jack. Put the jack under the axle near the driver's side so that you can move the axle around a little with the jack's wheels.

Remove the chassis bolt first, then the axle bolt. Be sure to note which direction the bolts are pointing before you remove.

Put the guard on and replace the axle bolt.

Offer the chassis end of the panhard rod up to the mounting hole. If the holes do not line up, move the axle using the jack to get it very close. Or ask a friend to push/pull on the driver's side wheel to help line it up. Usually if you can just get the chassis bolt started...you can get the bolt it to feed itself in the rest of the way by turning it clockwise with a wrench(threads will pull it thru).

I think the torque is 80NM. You can always retorque it later and replace the nylock nuts later if you don't have new ones right now. May as well retorque all the susp bolts while you're at it. Doesn't cost anything to do that.

Bend the diff gaurd, it will fit without removing the panhard rod.
