96 SE7. 5 Speed...I am wanting to run 265/75 BFG MT with Old Man Emu HD springs(751/762) The 235/85s seem little too narrow for the kentucky trails and hills...Is it possible to run 265/75 with OME HD springs and little to no trimming? My bumper end caps are gone. Will they rub? does anyone have the setup? I need some help...thanks

Sam

Sam, I'm assuming you are in a D2, not sure why I assmue that, but that is the setup that Greg P, Paul Morgan, and myself use on our D2s.

If i add 1" spacers would i encounter any problems with the driveline? Should I get 1" all the way around? Who make the best spacers Expedition Exchange?

i have the same truck with those tires. i actually have gone with the OME MD rears up front and SHD OME rears. and then add some 1" spacers in the back and you should be fine. might have to put in some extended SS brake lines though. but with your setup you should be fine. most likely will have to do some slight trimming or do the KVT special and push out the rear fender a bit off the mud flap support.

95 D1 here with the 751/762 as well. Likely mine are sagging somewhat since they are a few years old. Without any trimming when the springs and tires were new, I had tire rubbing on the rear portion of the rear fender well with 245/75's. They were OK up front other then under turning I would rub the radius arms.

IMO 265/85 would likely be worse than the 235/85 WRT trimming and turning radius. For the 235/85's I have trimmed the rear quarter panel just below the trim from the wheel well back to the rear bumper. Now under extreme articulation I have rubbing on the front of the rear wheel well (by the rear door). I suspect that you will need some trimming on the rear wheel well for the tires you want and possibly on the front. Any additional lift will likely minimize the trimming.

I agree with gp and there is a good comparison of OME lift methods on the EE site.

I currently have a stock Disco 1 and have been offered a set of 265/75's at a very reasonable price. What is the minimum I have to do to my truck to use this size. I'd be quite fearful of cutting my fender. If I wanted / needed a lift could I use springs from a different LR model (i.e. Defender) to obtain a lift?
Sorry if this information already appears but there seems to be so many combinations!

you will have to lift it to get those tires on it. then you will have to do kyles method of pushing the rear 1/4 panel out a little using the mud flap bracket. not a big deal at all. no need for butchering.
the cheap bastard lift is one where you would have to only buy one set of springs. i have not done this, but many on this BBS have. still i would suggest in getting all new springs and shocks. (old man emu) just get the tires and save up your $ until you can get the springs/shocks. then do it all at once. you will be much happier.

I'm running the OME HD's front and rear and 276/75/16's on my 97 LSE. I've done some trimming to the rear, but not too much. If I had to do it over again I'd do the KVT special. I trimmed too little at first and the trail finished the rest.

Now that I drive 400+ miles a week I'm considering finding a softer spring. Any suggestions? My tires aren't very old but it looks like I may have to switch them.
