Sorry about beating tires to death...I read through the archives, but I still have some questions. I am currently running OME MD's, with no sway bars (it is an RRC, pre-sway bars). I would like a to put 245/75's on, but from what I can find, they all come in E range, which is going to provide a crappy ride, I think. I need something good in mud, snow, and decent on the street. I am currently running 225/75 BFG MT's, and they have cupped horribley. I need something that will last a while, and can still perform decent off-road. Any Ideas on size and brand?

Thanks,
Will

I've got 235-85's on my disco and run them at 70psi instead of 80psi with no ill effects and still a good ride.

GOOD LORD, 70 psi!!!!! When I tried mine at 50 it drove like hell, I use 40 in the front and 45 in the rear now.

Just bought a "Certified Pre-Owned" 1999 Disco II that the dealer (Land Rover Portland OR) had put a full set of TOYO Proxes S/T 255/55R18 on before I took it home. Certainly not much of an off road tire, but an amazingly quiet road tire. Seems to handle all of this rain we're having up in these parts lately just fine - not a hint of hydro-planing.

That sure is alot of pressure there Justin! I think that a 235/85 would be to much for my 10 splines to push, especially off-road. If I had 24 splines then I would probabley go for them. Any body else on what I should get? At the moment I am thinking BFG AT's with Equal. Any ideas on what size?

Hey will,
IMHO, the 10 splines will be OK for the 235s. Many people run them, and some run even taller tires.
Maybe you should consider a 265/75. It is a nice size tire, and slightly shorter than the 235/85.

But, if you are dead set against the 32is inch tall tire, 245/75 is the tire for you.

Lastly, If I were you, I would seriously consider a mud tire of some sort. I have heard from a few sources that the on rode ride is not really much better with that AT than the MT. However, this is just what I have heard....not experienced.

FWIW, i am very happy with the Goodyear MT/R both off road as well as on road. I may get another set of MT/Rs next, but really want the 8.25 XZL.

I run 245/75 BFG AT on alloy as a road tire and 235/85 Trxus MT off road.

In either size, a BFG AT or MT is load range E, I believe. Same goes with BFG MT. They can go as high as justin mentions, but I believe that would only make sense (or sense to me) with an extreme load and/or towing. I run 36/33 rear/front.

Some of the BFG and Interco tires change load range with size. Make sure to compare, might even want to test drive before commiting ask a shop if they will do this.

If you are driving BFG MTs that are cupped, even with Load Range E the 245/75 will feel much better. ;-)

I prefer the load range E actually on and off road, but it is more stiff I believe.
