While I was waiting to turn into Mail Boxes Etc. the other night after work, a kid waiting in a Grand Am at a stop sign to my right, decided traffic was clear enough for him to turn left. I noticed the car was full of kids while I was waiting to turn and that the driver wasn't EVEN looking in my direction...that is until he hit me. So with a heavy sigh and a few expletives, I hop out to assess the damage. The kid was pretty apologetic, but I said that it would be alright...sh*t happens, but I need your insurance and registration because I'm calling the police. He begged me not to, but I told him he didn't have a choice in the matter. I got burned once for not calling the police on an accident before and damned if I'll be burned again! Anyway, thanks to my lift the damage to the Disco wasn't too bad, but I had to pry the bumper away from the tire so I could turn the wheel without it rubbing. His car on the other had sustained a bit more damage due to the A-frame winch bar on the front of my truck. It creased his hood, punched a hole in his grill and bumper cover and took out his headlight assembly. The mom shows up and asks if we can settle this without involving the insurance companies. I tell her I'd work with her, but that I had to have the police report in case she decided to back out...which she understood. The next day I visit my local body shop for and estimate which comes out to $1300 and she agrees to pay. So I called John last night at RTE to check on the availability of a new bumper and he just so happened to have one in stock. He called me just a little while ago to confirm the model of winch I had and that the bumper will be shipping out to me today. How wonderful is that...Merry Christmas!

Damnit, no one ever hits my truck! Our Saturn's been hit so many times there are only three original pannels on the body. But could some twit be kind enough to help me on the path to upgrades? Nooooooo....

Carter, Hate to tell you man, I got rear ended by an accord and it trashed his whole front end and didn't do anything to my bumper except leave some of his paint on it for me to rub off. Pray for some thing like a 71 buick to hit it.

Too bad it wasn't your REAR bumper. Then you could have kept the insurance money. Of course, now you can get an RTE bumper!

Greg,

The way people drive around here I'm still likely to get a rear bumper "deal" before the end of the year...lol. Now I'm going to have to take a look at your washer bottle setup sometime.

Hey, if you don't have a use for your winch basket any more, I could use a couple of your parts. I have a basket and a-bar, but need the brackets and bolts that connect the thing to the frame.

Steve, Aaron Owens has a friend that has a "slightly" damaged DII cover that you could probably get really cheap. Trim the bottom off and paint it black or Blenheim and you'd be set. Then you could pocket the rest.
