My U-joint exploded and tore up the 4 bolts that connect the front driveshaft to the transfer case. The nuts just pop off but the bolts are pinned againt the transfer case. THe only idea I have is to remove that big bolt inside the transfer case and pull the flange out until the bolts can be removed. Will oil come flowing out? Any seals I'd need to replace? Any help would be great. THanks |

Lock the tacase , lock the brake and use a BF bereaker bar to remove the nut. Once the flange is off the bolts drop right out. Kyle |

On a D1, is that thing DC? Greasable? James, didn't you tell me you were up over 175K? Is that the original? |

Mike, You are correct! It was the original front driveshaft but with 3.5 inches of lift in the front, it eventually exploded. I'll show you next time I see you. It was not DC and was greasable. I just installed the Tom Woods DC shaft and it is great so far. No more vibes it it looks very well built. I am still banging my truck to hell it it only runs better! I must have a freak Disco. 176,000 miles p.s. The impact wrench took that bolt off in 2 secs. I did have to tap the dust shield off the flange though..another 45 secs. Thanks all. |
