Hi, my wife and I have had our '94 Disco since 1997 when we picked it up with about 24k miles on it. Since then I have done nearly all of the work on it. It has been fairly troublefree except for an ABS relay. Aside from standard fluid replacement, I have replaced the brake pads (AND these Mintex pads always seem to squeak for me!) and rotors, belt, fuel filter, O2 sensors, cap/rotor, and plugs/wires. Anyway, fast forward to today and it is still running strong with 113k miles on it. Wife and I were debating whether to get a new car or keep it and we've decided to keep it. So with that, we would like to overhaul it completely. The last time I did major maintenance was around 85k miles, so its definitely due for some serious work. Is there a webpage or FAQ listing all the items that I should go through and replace (even preventative items, like hoses, etc) for it to last another 100k+ miles? I have the service manual and it lists items, but I would like to hear real owner experience about what things I should replace now rather than later. Also since I will probably be buying a lot of stuff, I am wondering of a good place to spend my money for all this? BTW, I am considering going with OME system, but have recently replaced tires on the disco. Will my disco look ridiculous with an OME suspension but stock size wheel/tires? And one more thing we would like to get an adventure roof rack. Am I looking at about $1000 anywhere I get it or is there a local place (CA Bay Area) that I can pick one up?? Thanks in advance. I know this is kind of a cheezy newbie post, so I apologize for that. -terry |

Hey Terry, Try here for a good write up on a full service: http://www.d-90.com/~daveg/60kservice/main.html Use Nathan at http://www.discountrovers.com for your parts and you are good to go. Depending on the lift you get from the OME's, your stock tires may look a little small, but probaly not ridiculous. Think there were a couple of posts recently on where to get an adventure rack for around $800. Or just keep posting want ads and surfing the sale sites. |

Robbie, thanks for the quick response. I will check out the links and start preparing my list! Any idea on recommended lift (or pics of the various packages so I can compare)? I have added this site to my daily surfing regimen so I will keep my eye out for discount adventure racks. thanks again -terry |

I would recommend Motorcars LTD. for parts. I have shopped around online, and they seem to be the cheapest, and the guy there is helpful if you call. They have a website. |
