Does the larger rolling radius of bigger than stock tires cause any noticeable problems with these systems? Is there a way to reprogram the ABS computer (or whatever controls this) to allow a slower HDC speed? How about reprogramming the speedo? I think I read here that someone was working on that....? Thanx |

As long as the diameter of all four tires is the same, it shouldn't affect them. I'm running 33's on my DII and haven't had any problems. But that's a good reason to make sure that your spare is close to the same diamter. When I buy tires, I always get 5, regardless of the mileage on my spare (which I rotate in with my others so that's never been an issue) As far as your speedo goes, I haven't heard of a unit that corrects it. There is a company in the UK that makes a conversion box, but when I e-mailed them they hadn't tested their unit on a Rover yet. It's called blackbox.com or something like that. |

There should be a way to correct the spedo. I would guess the dealer can do this but I haven't checked. Larger tires will often make the spedo more accurate. 245/75's (31") will get you pretty close to actuall speed. 265/75's (32") will put you a little off on the plus side (just as much as factory tires but on the other end). HDC speed isn't much of an issue since HDC isn't very useful. Over 32"-33" tires and you'll need to regear. I've been running 265/75 on my D2 for a couple of years now with no problems. |
