I just got a 2000 disco, used with ace and the cold weather and leather. I came home and I just sat with the hvac system off and the radio off, I can hear a noise about every 11 or 12 seconds(timed it). I am not shure what it but it makes the noise about the same time, every time. I got out and listened and it sounds like its coming from under the truck, I think tword the middle, I am not positive. The noise sounds like a "clack", its somewhat loud but not too bad, you can hear it when inside the truck. I don't know if all of this is over nothing and I know rovers are quirky, could this be something that all land rovers have or should I go down to have to looked at? It's under factory warrenty but i would love to know if its just a noise that everyone has, it would save me for some owner info, I dont have the time to have it brought in, work does not really permit unless its a critical thing. Thanks, I am very picky and would love to be able to just get this thing off my mind, its bugging me like crazy! :( Thanks- Evan Lopes ps all the vital signs seem good, just the noise. good idle, pressues and levels, thanks :)

I'm wondering if it could be the ACE? I don't know whether it's noises cycle or if they are more sustained, but I do know people notice the ACE sounds. You might be just fine, it might be normal.

Its a rover, they make fun noises all the time, get used to it, unless it sounds like metal, causes a puddle on your floor, or makes it drive funny you are fine!! Merry Christmas!!!

Dude, that's the ACE valve block clearing pressure, does it all the time, totally normal. If you look up under the pass side (NAS) about mid-truck you'll see the valve block up under there.

Some hear moans and groans when cornering while in motion, you might hear these too. THat means your truck is having a really good time.

The ACE system performs a self test every 12 seconds by closing a valve and reading the max pressure output of the pump. The ACE system works great but is very noisy. Another service of the system is that in low range it will loosen the sway bars up for greater articulation vs. the non-ace system. This was one of the reasons the Trek trucks were all ACE equipped

That's all normal Evan. The wife and I just bought a 2000 SE7 for her to drive with ACE, SLS, and all the other goodies. Thank god it has an extended warranty till 7 years/100K. It makes the same noise yours does, groans, whistles and drives very differently than my Disco. Glad the ACE will help off-road although this one may never see anything more than a dirt road, especially with Michelin MXV4 Plus tires - they aren't even classified as an SUV tire. They may not stay on the Rover for very long but they are great on the highway.

I will take this subtle and quiet moment to thank God that even in my ignorace I dod not get ACE. It will help the rig off road, but I hate hearing noises other than the usual Rover racket.
