Nowhere-
The only "hook" you should have on a rig is the one at the end of your winch cable.

Can we PLEASE increase the size of the 'search' button by about 500%?

Semantics aside - you can mount a Dixon Bates tow jaw on the front face of the bumper and there is plenty of room behind it to put a nice big backing plate (I used 3/8" x 2 1/2" x 7" steel).

IMO - mount it as close as possible to the frame horns.

Personally, I don't think a stock Disco bumper can withstand the sort of forces a recovery would put on it; no matter what size backing plate you use. It's ultra thin (the bumper and the mounts).

Sorry Bill, no offense intended, but my recommendation would be to go with Jate rings instead (you mount them directly to the frame). It's not as sexy as the Dixon Bates tow jaw, but it is a tried and proven solution.

You can search the archives for possible sources on the Jate rings.

Thanks,
Mike B.

I agree with that, Mike. The stock bumper is too weak. But, we are not talking about stock bumpers, we were talking about where to mount tow hooks on an ARB bumper. I have two mounted on mine, it's the blue truck on the top banner.

Oops. My bad. Why tow hooks rather than a D-ring of some sort?

Thanks,
Mike B.

FYI - I wasn't referring to a stock bumper - I thought the original question was where to put an extra recovery point on an ARB bar.

I agree completely on not touching the weak stock bumper

Hope that helps clear my comment up!

Bill
