I'm a new Disco owner - just received my 99 Disco yesterday. I thought that I loved it...however, when I attempted to start it this afternoon I'm unable to even turn the key in the ignition. (I can get the key in/out of the ignition fine, just can't budge(turn) it once inserted.) I've wiggled the steering wheel, thinking that I had somehow triggered the steering column lock - but unsuccessful. I've poured over my Owner's Manual but still no luck. Has anyone experienced this, or have any tips? I called LandRover, but their suggestion was to have it towed in which I'm struggling with (this is only my 2nd day of ownership!) It has been suggested to me that it might work to have someone push the front of the car, rocking the weight back but haven't done that yet. Thanks for any suggestions! |

Thanks, Robert. I stopped by AutoZone and got some graphite powder. Unfortunately, it didn't help. So...I took off the plastic cover and whacked the ignition. That didn't get the ignition turning either, but I do feel better at least a little... |

I bought a used ignition switch assembly from www.roverlandparts.com for $100 shipped. It was a bear to put in, but no more worries. I just emailed ya but saw this posting and thought I'd just say what I had to say here instead of emailing.. Good luck.. Later.. RS |
