What would cause the AM channel, all stations to go dead while FM, CD and WB all work fine? |

If the antenna isn't hosed I would guess the head unit might be. Check the antenna first. WB and FM are much higher in the frequency range than AM. Just a guess though |

The antenna in built into the glass on 2002 Disco so I don't think the antenna is the problem. Thanks. |

The antenna is built into the glass but there is still a cable that runs to the radio that could be damaged and the wire in the two rear side windows could still brake. Haven't you ever seen a rear window defoger or even the front heated windscreen with an element that didn't heat up? But as I said it could just be a bad head unit. Either way it sounds like something covered under warrantee if you have a 2002. |

On the Disoc I if the two leads are switched on the back of the radio AM will not work but the rest will. On a Disco II their is only one lead and a couple of connectors. Have seen problem in 2002 disco with it wired wrong to work with nav unit instead of regular radio |

Thanks Al, I realized later about what you said, that a cable or wire from the elements inside the window could be the problem. I have an appointment with LR service to check it out. Thanks again for the comments. |

Its the freakin aliens, they are in your area and transmitting on the AM band so they have blocked it out in your area, check with your neighbors, I bet they have the same problem. Lock your doors and put the tin foil helmut on, dont you remember Art Bell warning of this.... :D |
