Has anyone ever reached a consensus on the best motor oil, synth or not? Curious what others use. |

Before you go and get all excited about synthetics, make sure you read the labelling. Some of them stats CLEARLY its 100% synthetic oil* * blend with other oils. Get the point? You have no idea how much is actually synthetic LOL. Just read first |

Depends on how you define "best". There is lots of empirical data at this point that synthetics lubricate better, produce fewer deposits, and last longer than petroleum based oils. Go to www.sae.org and do a search for "synthetic oil". That said determining which synthetic is the "best" in the rover V8 motor is a guessing game. I have my oil tested every change, currently using www.titancheckup.com. FYI I bought a whole cartful of their tests for $4.00 each when my local Kmart closed them out so maybe go check your own local banKruptmart I like the results with Mobil 1 better than the results with Castrol Syntec(marginally less metallic content over reasonably equivalent intervals). |

Mobil 1. I also hear Redline has some good stuff but I prefer the things I can get anywhere. |
