Rob,

It is an easy fix and much less than the cost of a new tensioner, look in the archives for more info.

You can get the bearing from NAPA and the hardest part is getting the cir-clip out, LR did not use a normal cir-clip with plier holes.

To remove the clip with out damaging the housing I drilled some holes in the ends of the clip, (more like dented them) to use my cir-clip pliers. The drilling did mess it up the clips a bit there hardened a bit and I chewed up a few drill bits. If you dont drill a hole theres not much to grip.

To aid in future rebuilds I got a replacement clip with holes in it. Now if you want to get sick with the rebuild you can powder-coat it.

Napa 6203-2RSJ

The cir-clip I dont have a number I got a few from my hardware supplier.

Discodad,

Holy Crap. I love the guys on this board they are like f*&king Magiver.
I really appreciate your help. So now for the simple question. You just turn the center screw and that removes the tensioner correct?
I also did a search under Tension and tensioner and I couldn't find anything.

Thanks again!

If I could just add my 2 cents... I did the Napa bearing thing, and yes it is very hard to get that clip out. But it is possible. I had squealing prior to and after the new bearing. I changed the serpintine belt (2 minutes) squealing went away. I am wondering if my bearing or tensioner was really ever bad? Anyway that is my experience. good luck! Brad

Remove tension to slacken the belt and remove it from the pulley. Then loosen the bolt holds the tensioner to the mount. Besides prying the clip loose thats the hardest part... LOL on MacGyver comparison you have to be to own one of these things...
