Is there anything that I should be worried about before disconnecting my battery? Like the alarm or remote not working after?

Better have your radio code handy, you'll have to punch it in for the radio to work afterwards...

Where do I locate that? Is it in my owners manual? And where would I punch it in?

Dealer would have it, if it's not written down in your paperwork somewhere.

When you reconnect the battery and turn the radio on, it will say "CODE". You use the memory buttons (1-6) to punch in the 5-digit code, and then your radio will work again.

So I take it that there is no other problems associated with disconnecting the battery? Is there anything to wory about with the computer, or any other electrics other than the obvious shorts?

Is there a chance that you have to reset anything else?

Thanks

You do not mention the model. In our 1998 DI, the alarm had it's own internal battery. The moment I disconnected the main battery the siren sounded, so loud that my ears are still ringing!! Had to find the appropriate connector and disconnect.
Besides this and the other comments, there is really nothing special about disconnecting the battery.

Not only that, but you did not mention if it was D1 or D2. The D2 radio does not reset or need a code, but you need to change the temp on the A/c from C to F.

Last time after I disconnected my battery, the SRS light of my DI came on. I asked the dealer for that and was told he will charge me $95 to run a test.

I have not done it so. Does anyone know how to reset the SRS light?

SRS light requires testbook intervention. Sorry. Trust me, if there was a way, I'd have done it a long time ago to avoid the Stealership.

Hi,

I have a 97 DI and have just disconnected the battery (after I disarmed the alarm by the keyless entry). Does anyone know if the 97 D1 has a seperate battery for the alarm system or was my alarm system supposed to go off when I disconnected the battery? Thnaks!

Mine never has, FWIW...

It could be that they had the alarm set before disconnecting the battery, whereas you and I had ours off, is my guess....

I have a 98 D1 and I follow the instruction manual when disconnecting the battery: turn the ignition on/off and disconnect the battery terminal within 15 seconds. Never had any problems with the alarm but radio code has to reentered.
