Curious if anyone know what the power distribution is between the front and rear /left and right in high and low gear . Also at what point does the CDL kick in ?

thanks

Can any tell me how and when the power shifts from the slipping wheel when off road. I have a 95 D1 and I'm curious if the Locking Diff is engaged all the time or only when the wheels start to slip .

neutral can be used to flat tow for short distances.

also makes a great antitheft device just make sure the truck does not roll away.

Thanks Ron , do you know if when your vehicle is in (hi or low) mode if the Central locking diff is locked all the time, and is the low setting really just a " creeper " gear for steep hill accents when off road ?

hi lo is independent of diff lock.

Slide it over to the left and you are in diff lock.

Low is just steeper gears. All time offroad should be in low.

"Slide it over to the left and you are in diff lock." Well.... only the center diff is locked. The diffs on the front and rear axles are still open. I know Ron knows this, but it is a common misconception among newbies that the CDL locks the diffs in the axles.
