Bank 'A' oxygen sensor is bad, and yes, you can do it yourself.. Craig |

Just change it when the truck is cool- While your at it, change the other- You will need to get a crows foot to remove the 02 from the cat- you can get one from Sears, etc. I forgot what size it is, but I'll check my tool box in the morning. |

Wait till the other goes bad before you replace it. They aren't cheap, and changing a good sensor is not going to improve anything. Don't need any special tools either. Open end wrench (I forget the exact size) is all you need. Trace the wires from the O2 sesor up to where they plug into the harness ( maybe 12"s) disconnect it here first, and loosen the sensor from the downpipe. Really not a big deal, just an expensive part.. Fwiw- Craig |

I tried to change one on my Audi - I wouldn't try again. Might be a simple job, but you imaging trying to loosen a bolt which has been heated to 600deg C and back to ambient temp 100's of times. If you've got a gorilla who can help you with the wrench, you might be okay. If you're going to try on your own, I would suggest soaking it in something that will help loosen it up first. Maybe that it is different on a LR, but I've heard of many other people having the same problem I had (with lots of diff cars), and then shearing the thing off, leaving them to drill it out and lots of hassle. Definitely worth changing though if it's bad. Good luck ! Matt |
