Hey Guys,

I have a 1996 Land Rover Disco with 58,000 miles and its a 5 speed,well when i shift from 1-3 there is a wierd clunk when i realease the clutch,
Is my trans gonna go? Please help

Why from 1-3? where did 2 go? How fast are you going when you do this?
Could be many things - UJs, transfer gear (although at 96 you should have the modified gear with long splines and oil holes), rear A frame ball joint, suspension bushes etc. Does it occur if you drive slowly (idle in 1st gear) over a bump (like a speed hump) - jerking back and forth? This is driveline - UJs, transfer gear or diff slack, or even drive flanges at wheels can do it. Start checking down the line.

I have the same problem. Only, mine is a 95 and it is automatic. My transmission makes a klunking noise when i shift from park to reverse or reverse to park. the wierd thing is that it only does it after it has warmed up. It shifts smooth for the first 20 minutes untill it has warmed up....any suggestions?
