Help! The (automatic) shifter lever on my DI will not shift out of park and into gear. I've double checked to make sure the brake and the ignition switch are working properly. I can't tell if the shift lock spring? on the shift handle is working. I was able to get the shifter to engage to get the vehicle home...but I've tried the shifter several times tonight with no luck. This just happened with no warning. I've been happy with this DI...so far. Any info or explainations would be helpful. Thxs. G |

Is the mechanism inside the lever working? When you push on the thumb button can you feel resistance? Inside of that, if you pop off the top cover, you will find a cir-clip that fits around the top of the plunger that disengages the selector stops. Make sure that that is still in place, the cir-clip that is. This is rare, I would bet it is the brake light switch, also. Good Luck! Tad |

This happened to my 95 Disco!! make sure that your fuses are not blown. Especially your brake light fuses. That should clear up the problem and release your shifter. This may also be a warning of a short circuit coming along. |
