While I let the PB site over night...

What is the easiest means of doing this? I saw Blues pictures of the dremel/chisel/hammer method. Is there an easier safer way?

What kind of grease goes in there?

Hey Brian
we find it easy to remove it 2 ways, first you can try adapting a small dent puller/slide hammer to it or my favorite is to take a socket large enough and deep enough (standard depth should be sufficient)and using the correct size and length bolt( which I can't remember what size and length because we have it set up in a kit for the shop) and you put the socket over the stub and thread the bolt into it thru the socket it will come right out,by the way try to use a good grade bolt and a little grease on the threads and thrust areas of the bolt head and washers

I think you're talking about removing the bushing that fits in the end of the driveshaft. If so, there is no easy safe way to do it that I know of-in fact, I was cautioned against even trying by those who had been there before me. I tried to use a slide hammer gripping the edge of the bushing that protruded from the end of the driveshaft-no dice, I couldn't get a good enough grip. I used the blue wrench!

Well mine definitely needs replacement so the sucker must come out. ooer ltd, do you have a picture or could you describe in more detail, I don't get it (maybe after a cup of coffee it will sink in).

I think he was describing removal of the centering peg that must be removed to allow one to swap to a u-jointed driveshaft. The peg mates to the bushing.

I think you are correct about the centering peg. Still kind of curious if anyone else has figured out a good way to remove the bushing.

Still kind of curious about what kind of grease goes in there.

I can turn it with a bloue wrench, but getting it out seems pretty hard. I guess I'll have to do the dremel chisel thin if noone else has any good ideas.

I used my blue wrench to BURN the bushing out...

So your blue wrench is a torch?

Did you grease after?

Yes, the blue speed wrench is an oxy-acetylene cutting torch. I have found it to be indispensible when working on Rovers... They're not just for shock and exhaust removal anymore!

As for the grease, if you think about how it goes together, you can get away with whatever you're greasing your u-joints with.
