How about genuine? Or organic? Or maybe even semi-metallic? In some cases the rotor manufacturer will say what you should or should not run with their rotors. -P |

semi-metallic... it may be me, Perrone; all semi-metallic pads I ever installed on my cars (4 totally different vehicles) squealed like a pig, and cracked way before they wore out. they wear rotors much faster, too, and with the weeny stock rotors (or any aftermarket rotors using the stock calipers) their lifetime will decrease significantly. peter |

semi metalic generate much more heat I would highly reccomend not using them on the non-vented rotors on vented rotors they will not be as aggresive at eating the rotors. as the average running temp of a rotor goes up its life goes down thats why a city driven taxi uses brakes faster then a grocery getter in central nebraska. if you are daily driving your disco in bumber to bumber high speed traffic then the extra performance of semi metalic may make more sence. but performance costs money and you will most likely need to replace the rotors almost every brake job. |

Kevlar pads are not very grippy until they get quite hot. Actually they don't give their best performance until they reach a temperaature above which our brake fluid boils. I am currently running EBC reds on my BMW. They have proven inferior to the Pagids I was running. -P |

I agree with you P. EBC's are just hype. Why the heck do people NOT trust OEM pads? Using OEM is a no-brainer. |

I just replaced my OEMs with Mintex pads. They squeal a bit more, have the same bite. Don';t know if they will last any longer... |
