Are you wanting a seperate box in the back or do you want to make a vain attempt at using the stock location to achieve some boom? Also, do you have the stock head unit or an aftermarket one?

I actually replaced the head unit with a high power one and ran that to new speakers. Then I added an amp which runs the stock subs. You'll be suprised at what they can do with some power to em.

Be careful though. You CANNOT just replace the head unit. Because all discos have a factory amp you will get distortion and an annoying popping noise when you turn off the aftermarket head unit. This popping (from the head unit being turned off a millisecond before the amp)is amplified and could blow out your speakers. If you want a new head unit, you will need to replace your amp too. Your best bet for cheap bass is to buy a self powered tube and wire it directly into your rear speakers. You will still need power from the battery though.

Check with "Lynden" if he still lurks on the dweb. He put together a decent sounding system without breaking the bank. If he doesn't have his email posted search the 2001 archives. I'm pretty sure that's where I read about his system.

I am looking to replace my front speakers with better ones. Any recommendations? I would only replace them if there were speakers that fit the existing speaker sights.

I had two 10 inch subs in a box, laying around in my garage and I wanted an easy way to throw them in the disco. So I took the rear door panneling off and the door subs, cut the wires to the door subs and rerouted the wires to the two 10's in the box. I was totally suprised that that little amp in the back could push the 2 10's but it does, nothing like they could be with the correct amp, but the bass is 5 times better than before and is pretty clean. It has been about a year and the amp has not burned up yet. So if you have some subs laying around and are bored I recomend this, but not for a long term fix.

Infinity Baselink powered sub. It's compact, clean sound, mounting fit (horz or vert), metal grill and reasonably priced at $400.
