I ride the train into work everyday, so my wife gets to drive the Disco during the day. Well, she called me this morning saying the engine wouldn't start. It was a pretty cold night last night. The truck did eventually fire up, but I am concerned about this happening in the future. I know this is a very vague problem, since I don't know a lot of the details not being the one trying to start the vehicle and all. Do any of you have some ideas/suggestions what might be the culprit? Thanks for the help! Jeremy |

The gear shifter might not have been all the way in PARK. Or - is your wife blonde by chance? |

No, my wife is a hot brunette! The truck was in park. I suggested that first when she called me. The truck was trying to start the entire time, it just wasn't turning over. |

Was a light left on? Battery might have drained a bit. Once it ran though, it wouldn't be a problem, as long as the alternator was working. Crappy fuel? It's a possibility. Dirty sparkplugs - been offroading lately? need to check the wires. 30k mile tune-up due? |

Would a clogged fuel filter have these symptoms? |

Maybe. That's where the crappy fuel would come in. Jeremy, you have to let us know what you see when you get home. While you're at it - would you like to post a couple pictures of your hot brunette wife? Just kidding man. |

I think my wife would kill me if I did that! I'll take a look when I get home this afternoon to see if I can figure anything out. The Disco apparently is doing just fine now. She has been running errands all over town today with no further problems. Thanks for the help! |

This has happened to me a few times, and I know its crazy but other people have had the same issue. Sometimes there is something wrong with the alarm system. Next time that happens, just for shits and giggles, try locking and unlocking the truck again with the key fob. Its worked for other people and it'll take you no time. Sometimes its the Lucas charm. |

I had this problem once when I was driving her home from the purchase. I turned it off and she wouldn't turn back on. I was like, oh shit what'd I get myself into. I called the dealer and they said nobody was there who could help me. I walked away, and tried it again a few minutes later and she started right up. Since then I replaced that stupid "alarm" and bought myself a aftermarket real alarm. I don't know if that was it but I haven't had that problem again. The reason I really changed the alarm was because I was having a problem disarming with the remote. I changed the batteries and I'd still have to be 5 feet away before it would unlock the doors and deactivate the alarm. Don't know if this is common but it happened with both remotes so I changed the alarm. I also wanted that cool remote start feature! LOL Good Luck and I don't know if this helped |

Landrover issued a service bulletin on the alarm distance problem. There was something about rerouting the antenna for the receiver. It is located behind the glove box in an obstructed position. I have the same problem but haven't been annoyed enough to do anything about it yet. -jeff |
