I have a 97 Disco with, implace of jump seats, those annoying cargo bins. Over the years of normal Rover abuse and squeezing too many tents and packs in the back the plastic walls split on me. Subsequently, they constantly pop out and spill all their contents over my load space....

Has anyone come up with a clever replacement idea? Maybe just a total replacement with cargo net? I enjoy the extra little "crap holders" and would like to keep their convenience, but I cant think of anything worthwhile..

Thanks!

check ebay under "land rover discovery", I've seen a vendor who sells cargo nets for the side bins (might only be for a D2)

The cargo bins on my D1 cracked too. I riveted a 3/4" flat aluminum strip to the back and drilled out the tops and bottoms of the cracks to prevent further cracking. It looks ok and works pretty good. The aluminum has enough flex to allow me to still remove the bins if I need them. I seemed to recall that the total cost for the parts was $4.00 for both bins. That beats the $80.00 or so the dealer wanted.

Thanks,
Mike B.

Guys - those things are like $19.00 each. if you break one, buy a new one.

It's not the cost. Mine aren't even broken, they just suck at holding stuff. The only reason mine works at all is because I have a 50 lb tool box on the outside keeping the walls from tumbling.

I am just looking for a better system.

Where is the picture posted at? I need some ideas for my bins as well. I think I'd like to put in one chair and then leave the other bin for holding stuff.

i ended up putting in two steel bars in both slots on each side. i bent them in a vise so they would hold more..toolbox, fire ext. etc.

pics speak louder, so i'll get them in here.

Get rid of the cargo bins. Put a trail air in one side, and something fun like a subwoofer in the other....

Then where do I put my straps, receiver hitch, paper towels, extra tennis shoes, folder with extra Dweb stickers and collection of mechanical drawings ect., and CD Cases?

Dave- what's a trail air? What's the biggest size subwoofer you think you could get in the bin space?

Where can you get the bins for under $20.00? The dealer quoted me $70.00+ for each bin.

Thanks,
Mike B.

Ken, do you have a DII or DI? If you have a DI, then where did you get those silver load tie down things? I would like to get some for my own!

Thanks

I'll trade my bin covers for a single rear jump seat. Any takers? :)
