I hear all this great talk about OBDII Disco code readers but how do you read them on a 95?

94-95's have OBD-I - look under you passenger seat, there is a black screen that will show codes if your truck sets off your check engine light.

and what if you have a '94, but not a box under the seat ?

I assume it's pretty obvious ?? But I can't find anything under there other then the CD changer.

Were some of them made without the screen ?

Matt.

US spec should all be the same. And the factory changer should be under your driver seat. If the changer is under your passenger side, then something is amiss (this is only on 94-95). Both your emissions service reset box and ECU readout should be under your passenger seat (again, 94-95). This is my understanding, so if something is different or I am wrong, hopefully someone will chime in.

Okay - so I'm in the UK !

Never thought about the LHD/RHD situation - I assumed everything was reversed in the cabin, but I guess it is not. Perhaps the readout box is under my drivers seat ?

I'll have a look later on.

Ahhhh, yeah, that just may be the case. If so, please post back so that we can get rid of some the confusion.

Nope, not there either (unless I'm being particuarly blind) - just lots of empty space.

Perhaps it's not on the UK model ?

this is V8 spec or 200-300tdi? i still have no idea about UK models, but maybe that would clear it up a little?

It's a 3.9 V8
(the newer one - i.e. '300' spec - revised styling)

Will the codes only show if the Check engine light comes on. I do have the electrical manual for it. That said...I have heard that you can do tests using jumpers somewhere in the truck.
