Has anyone had experience with Excide spiral cell batteries? I saw them at Checker Auto and they have a deep cell 750CCA spiral cell(called "orbital cell") for $129. Does anyone have experience with these compared to Optima?

Can't say first hand, but supposedly Exide made some changes that improve it "slightly" over the Optima. There is some info on their website and a bunch other places on the net about the new Exide.

IMO - depends on price, if I could get the Exide cheaper than an Optima, then I'd go for it.

I've had the Exide for over a year. Works well, cranks every time.

I have 4 of them and all work as advertised the cost is not much less than the Optima's but more stores carry them if you need a replacement.

I now prefer the Orbital to the Optima (however this is only from experience with other people's batteries). The new Optimas seem to have lower CCA and reserve capacity ratings than the older ones and even those were rated same or less than the Orbital. I also like the post configuration on the Orbital and of course it's few bucks cheaper than Optima.

Just get it. I will when my stock one bites the dust.
