3.9 v8 is having a little trouble with idle at stop lights and sometimes cutting off! I guess i should clean the stepper motor to see if that helps but where is it on the 3.9 and what should you clean it with. What do they call the stepper motor in the genuine workshop manual?

TIA

Justin

Stepper motor is located in the back of the motor about the middle of the firewall. http://www.discoweb.org/faq/stepper.htm

Stepper is probably first check, but also:- check for air leaks anywhere in vents, vacuum leads, breathers etc. Also check inlet manifold gasket for oil leaks, as these can also leak air, and cause idle problems. There is a Service Bulletin on idle problems which moves the charcoal canister purge line to the stepper fitting, but it didnt fix my original problem, so dont go it unless its free.
