I just bought a 95 Disco, and sometimes when I am stopping I hear a noise and the brake pedal pulsates for a few seconds then stops. What is wrong? Any input is appreciated...

That's your Automatic braking system (ABS).

I figured it had to do with ABS, but I was hoping you or someone else would be a little more specific.

Is this normal or is something wrong?
What needs to be fixed?

Any help you can offer is appreciated.

If you are braking and your wheels are about to skid the system kicks in. Were you stopping on wet pavement or loose gravel/dirt?

No, it usually happens in dry conditions and under normal braking. It seems to happen alot as I am pulling in my driveway which has a large dip where it meets the street but nothing that should cause the ABS to kick in?

The wheel going into the pothole are temporarily lighted after they go over the edge of the pothole, triggering the ABS since you are braking at the time.
Happens to both our disco and volvo - Don't worry about it, just try going slower, stop braking or fill the pothole.
