We are considering a 2000 DII with 29,000 miles on it, the price seems fair (according to edmonds/kbb) at $28,000. Anyone out there have any thoughts on these? This would be our first LR.

Also, it does not have a CD changer (a must for us) and the dealer wants $850 for one!! Can anyone tell me which, if any, of the aftermarket CD changers will work with the stock stereo set-up?

Thanks.

NONE! If you want a cd changer in the DII and want the factory stereo, it's either the factory changer or the FM modulated (there crap-don't do it) changer.

Or you can put in an aftermarket head unit like an Alpine and then run a changer off that, but of course you loose your stearing wheel controls.

My advice is to bite the bullet and order the facotry changer and install it yourself, it is super easy and will bring you closer to your DII. That's what I did and she and I are have forever bonded!

Besides, never buy parts from a LR dealer, cause they are always 30-40% higher than the mail order houses. Atlantic British sells the factory changer for $629 and I think roverconnection sells it for under $600 ($550???).

The part number for the Discovery Series II Alpine CD Changer is XQE100240.

Take this part number to Nathan over at http://www.discountrovers.com and see what he can do for you

2000 DII, 29,000 miles, $28,000

Sounds high to me. 2 years ago, I bought my '99 with ~24k mi on the odo for $24k... These things depreciate quickly, a 2000 should be down in price more than that.

IMHO, YMMV, FWIW....

Chris,

You need the Alpine changer (as Koby says) plus a BlitzSafe (sp?) connector that runs about $100. I just had mine installed this weekend. It keeps all the controls including those on the steering wheel.

i paid $27,900 for a 2000 DII with only 6K - non dealer. Your price seems a little high. Check out bvlandrovers.com - bear valley - worth a plane ticket - Atlanta.

I paid $27,300 for my 2001 DII SD w/10,600 miles on it, in a lovely Oslo blue. Oh it has the cold weather package as well. The LR dealer also has the very cool 3.9 apr rate until 4/1 which I locked in.

check out carmax.com as well. they've got alot of SD's for low amounts. I agree, that price sounds a little high.
