Hey Peoples, I really enjoy the site....its great, intelligent and a pefect resource. I am thinking about buying a Kalahari ( color Grey ) as my second rover. I have a D1 and love it. The K. does not come with ACE and that does not bother me. I love the black interior, safari gard sliders, blackout hood, etc on top of power seats but not heated :( Anyway, how have the DII been holding up? Any suggestions or input would be great. Thanks and regards to people who share a sense of adventure and kinship with the largest car owner club in the world :)

JP,

I just bought a yellow Kalahari about a week ago. Mine came with heated seats. These heated seats where not DEALER ADDED it came from the factory with them so check into that. The only dealer options I had added where the rubber floor and cargomats, Adventure rack, hmm and I think that was it. So far I love my D2 Kalahari. Only problem I have had is one of the interior body pannel screw plugs cam out on the passanger side. I figure if I stop bu the dealer he can give me a few and I can pop it in. Only question i have for you is why grey and not the yellow or orangeish color???

there are apparently several differnt
colours of kalaharis floating around
yellow, orange, white and grey.

the grey ones were at first called the
'tomb raider' discos - the white kalaharis
now also have a different name....

bottom line is that they are special build
vehicles and are very cool for that.

i'd get one in a snap if i could - white
for me - the saudi grill and the special vehicle
badge are cool enough! the seats are grippy - which is important when you are balancing on a 45 degree incline, teetering on three wheels!! (trust me on this one!)

the $g sliders are not the greatest - but they
are already on the car.

if you can spring the extra $$ over an sd - then
by all means get one -

What is the "Saudi Grill"? I've seen it mentioned a few times? Is it a DII only thing or does it fit the DI too?

Check with Duncan MacLeod at Northest British Parts. He's advertising them and other parts on LRX. I got it for about $45 including shipping at is the LR genuine part.

Jay, you get rid of the RR Classic for that XD? Pretty sweet ride!

Yep, the Classic is a goner. Thought about keeping it but I was afraid I'd spend money keeping it up I could spend building the XD. The tech at the shop I deal with now ownes it so I'll still get to see it.

Will,

Really want to see Ross' white Kalahari. I bet it is plush.

Jay,

I still drive the '95 SWB Classic everyday, although her off-road days are behind her. That's what the Disco is for...

Alright, what's The Mullet, and why should I fear it?

Nice Ron. Of course I can hardly see the thing behind all your gear but I get the picture. I like it.

And I love the "Fear The Mullet" sticker. A while back I saw a truck with "mullet" written in a circle with a line through it. I've got to get one.

Oh dear GOD! It's that John Stamos thing gone really bad. Thanks for the heads-up, but much like animals know when they see something poisoness, I think I've always been naturally repelled.
