Folks, Best "simple" upgrade I can think of. Just plopped in a set of Infinity 4" round twin cone/range speakers in the rear pillars to replace the crappy cardboard rover units. Holy smokes! Now I want to replace the rest... By the way, picked up the Infinity's for $65 at Circuit City. Ron Ward |

Polk Audio make a set of really shallow depth coaxial speakers that will fit in the doors with no drilling, sawing or other mods. The grills that come with the polk's even fit the factory mounts so they look clean and stock... Only they sound much, much better! The problem with the doors is the depth is very limited. I ended up going with some Boston Acoustics speakers in the rear pillars. I blew out the sub woofers and replaced them with some really heavy dual voice coil sub's I got at a clearance sale at my local radio shack store. $4 each! Got the polk's at Good Guys for around $100 a year ago. The stock D1 speakers really do suck. Dave |

True, I replaced all my speakers with Infinity Kappas, except for the doors, I found some thin mid-ranges for those. The new Kappas in the back sound awesome. I also added the factory disc changer. Now I have to Dynamat the cargo door and itll sound great. Just gotta get rid of that rattle! Bought all my stuff on ebay too!! |

For me, speakers only, and that alone made a huge diffrence. Although I am planning an amp upgrade. |

I have a '95 and I couldn't believe how awful the sound system sounded! It belonged in a eight thousand dollar jap vehicle, not a Land Rover! I replaced all the speakers and replaced/bypassed the stock amps. I also replaced the head unit with a quality piece. I personally think that putting 4" speakers all around is a joke! I don't think 4"'s is big enough for ANY speaker to put out enough sound!!! I replaced the front's with Rockford Fosgate components and the rear's with Infinity Kappas, and I'm not crazy about the rears! I also wish I would've replaced the rear's with something bigger, either 6 1/2 or 6 3/4. I also replaced the teeny lil subs with a REAL 12" Sub, MTX. I listen to a wide array of music and for most this system sounds great, but I crave more power from Zepplin, Black Sabath, and such. Just my opinion... |
