I have a '97 Disco with 92,000 miles on it and it is about time to replace the rubber coupling on the rear prop shaft, as it showing definite signs of wear. My question, or query, is whether or not to replace the rubber coupling or to go ahead and fit a u-joint kit. I have OME HD springs, which have lifted the truck considerably, and I have been told that with the added angle on the drive line the rubber will deteriate much faster. Any opinions appretiated. |

Jon: I am in the process of changing mine to a u-joint system. It should be pretty straightforward with the exception of confirming that gear lash has not changed when I replace the pinion flange. This alone scares some off and raises the price. Tom Woods (I believe) makes a flange adapter negating the need for a new pinion flange and associated third member disassembly. D'Oh, I just read where you said you have the OME springs... I have the RoverTym setup and the roto-flex hasn't really given me any problems, I just want the peace of mind. Peace, Paul |

Check with Great Basin Rovers -- they make a couple of different rear prop shaft / U-joint assemblies for your rig. Norm |
